I've got both the Hellfrost (Triple Ace Games http://www.tripleacegames.com/HellFrost.php) and Space 1889: Red Sands (Peginc, http://www.peginc.com/Art/Articles/Space1889/Space1889.html) materials and I'm giving thought to firing up a campaign of about 12 games in one of these systems (would be a few weeks away before I start though).

Which setting -- Hellfrost vs. Space 1889 -- would you be more interested in playing in a Virtual Tabletop environment (specifically, Fantasy Grounds II)?

I'm asking in advance as I'm also going to run this game in my Face to Face group, and buy miniatures, etc., but I don't want to invest in running a system in my Face to Face group for which there is no appetite among online players.

Days and times TBD, but probably on the weekend, and depending partly on when folks who are interested are available. Most likely I will run it using Fantasy Grounds with an Ultimate license, meaning you could play for free.

Space 1889:Red Sands. I did not like Hellfrost. It was to much micromanagement and detail tracking for online play.

I think its funny that right now this poll is split 50/50, I'm curious to see if it will stay that way.

How does it matter if you play it online or face-to-face?

For me Hellfrost is something I can better relate to - it is a mix of Middle Earth and Songs of Ice and Fire Smile.

I guess the battlemap is more needed for Hellfrost because there are area-effect spells.

Um, considering the original post is from nearly 2 years ago, and the game was "a few weeks away" then, I'd be willing to bet the current discussion is a bit moot.

The recent tendency towards thread necromancy is kind of odd; especially considering it seems to come from different folks. Confused

Then the flying viking long ship has to fight a flying Arab Dhow (the kind of ship Sinbad always has) or a flock of flying carpets ridden by lazy tailor's sons
