Dalnoy - This reclusive, artistic race of giant spiders lives in peace and harmony with fey and other sylvan races. (The first bonus race for the upcoming Races of Evernor III)
I want to convert the Dalnoy from DnD3.0 to savage worlds. So how would it work? |

Size -1 (-2): at less than 80 pounds they're no larger than a dog.
Wall Walker (+1): Climb at Pace on most surfaces.
Bite (+1): Str+d6 damage. Count as Armed, no minimum strength.
Poison (+2): Anyone bitten and shaken or worse must roll Vigor or be paralyzed for 2d6 rounds.
Exoskeleton (+0): Armor 1 in all locations, but cannot wear armor. Equivalent to studded leather - which is what the source has.
Total: +2 race.
I'd then make a few new edges available.
Thick Exoskeleton: Increase the armor bonus by +2.
Multi-minded: Can use a second pair of arms simultaneously.
Potent Venom: Vigor rolls to resist the poison are at -2. _________________ "Got a problem? I've got the solution: Rocket Launcher."

Entangle, not Stun. Though I'm fine with requiring an Edge to make it a combat ability; which is what I had meant to include in my previous post. A once / day DC 12+Cha Web spell does not seem like a function of biology - it's racial magic added onto one of the most mary-sue races I've seen on RPGNow.
Make it a racial power edge (kind of like AB: Superpowers but only for Entangle, using one of Agility, Shooting, or Throwing for the "arcane skill", and fewer power points that only work for the web; or it can use No Power Points to prevent it from being confused with an actual Arcane Background). _________________ "Got a problem? | You could always look at the stats for spider men in Slipstream as a template. |

The Arachneans are not meant to be playable. I do like their web ability, though; good suggestion! _________________ "Got a problem? I've got the solution: Rocket Launcher."

| I also think their webbing ability works. |

The Fantasy Companion has a +2 racial ability called "racial power", which gives you a single power and 5 PP to use with it (the power and PP are entirely separate from any other AB or power edges you might have). As a physical ability it would use Vigor as the arcane skill. You could use that with Entangle to represent the web ability.
The Dalnoy should probably also have Low Light Vision (+1).
For their "mild poison", perhaps reduce the price of the racial ability to +1, and give it a duration of d4 rounds and/or a +1 bonus to the Vigor roll?
I'd be tempted to give them Outsider if it wasn't for their Charisma bonus. Perhaps Distinctive Appearance (minor hindrance from NE) would be more appropriate? No Charisma penalty, but they stand out in a crowd and may have difficulty in social situations. |

| So far no one wants to be a giant spider. I know it is hard to belive. I guess I'll have to use dalnoy npcs for now. |
