Originally born in Winchester, Hampshire - the old capital of Wessex (Southern England).
Moved to Bournemouth (south coast of England) at the age of eleven and stayed there until my wife and I moved to Hamilton, Ontario in 2001. My wife is originally from Hamilton.

A comedy show in Austria spoofed the opening of Full Metal Jacket. A few girls are living as roommates together in a flat, but only one does all the cleaning and cooking, so she lines up the other two at the wall and yells at them like the gunnery sergeant.
One of them is, in fact from the Netherlands and the dialogue goes like:
"Where the hell are you even from, girl?!"
"From Holland, ma'am!"
"Holland? Only tulips, lesbians and tv-presenters come from Holland!"
But yeah the cheese and the windmills are true as well. Oh, and those huge boatlike wooden shoes, right?
