Hi guys, this is my first post so be gentle!

I'm about to start my first SW game, Weird War II and I want to make it really special for my players. I've bought and painted the miniatures, made a custome GM Screen, got some bullet casings as bennies, a pack of WW2 themed playing cards and picked out the music i'm going to have playing in the background to set the atmosphere (http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL8D7215CD6EB679EA).

Does anyone have any ideas of other things I can do to enrich the experience for my players?

The Half track is borrowed from a friend but i'll ask him where it came from and update.

All the miniatures are 28mm

There are lots more photos on my blog (including the British Commandos and the Frnech Resistance) and i'll be putting up in game shots next week after the game has been run. I don't want to risk my players finding too much out till then

If they can't get into it with THAT kind of set up, they are in the wrong hobby.

That said, you asked for ideas.

- Are they jumping right into the horror? I'm thinking start out the session with more fluffy 40's music: Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy, This Is the Army Mr. Jones, etc. Then, when it hits the fan, switch to the more martial music.

- Got an army surplus store nearby? Using canteens and fold-out cups instead of normal drinking glasses would be sweet.


- I had an idea that involved firecrackers but now I'm starting to re-think it.

I got some more miniatures finished in preparation for Sunday's debut game.

First the heroes (5 British Soldiers & 1 Polish Resistance fighter)



French Resistance (Plus the Polish character)



And finally a suit of US Power Armour for a follow up adventure

One thing I notice that strikes me as odd, is just how much pitting there is in the power-armor miniature. (That's obviously a casting issue, not a painting issue.) Is this common for this miniatures line?

In any case, the painting and basing is splendid! Where's the "Like" button for me to click?

when playing Axis and Allies I made every one wear the vintage World War Two (see that I used the word Vintage correctly in connection with a specific date or short span or years other wise vintage is a meaningless word as used on E Bay) hat of the country they were playing. I was Germany and said I was Field Marshall Von Dan first time thought thought up my trade name.

I did notice the pitting when I was preparing the power armour suit but felt it looked right, if you look at Shermans of the same period they often have some pretty heavy pitting. I thought the visor looked like a modern welding mask but they look so suitable I couldn't resist.

Each player had an official photo, except the Officer who was a failed movie star who had supplied a promotional photo signed 'Keep on fighting!'
