Ghost Mountain is a sacred site containing a physical gate to the underworld, and the Ghost Wardens who reside there are dedicated to making sure the souls of the dead pass peacefully through to the afterlife. Here the styles aren’t based on the movements of animals but the feelings that drive human triumphs and tragedies.

The Legend of Ghost Mountain includes a ten-chapter Plot Point Campaign. Plot Points provide a structure for Game Masters to tell big stories but leave room for individual adventures (Savage Tales or your own custom creations) between the major beats. The players must make world-changing decisions and lead the battle against a literal army of the rebellious dead.

In Face the Inevitable, the Ghost Wardens are tasked with finding a magic mirror some say will reveal why wailing ghosts and savage demons suddenly ravage the land. It’s up to the heroes to investigate these horrific incursions, battling bandits, monsters, and strange forces along the way. Eventually, they’re thrust into the far more savage world of Imperial politics–and must either earn the Emperor’s support…or replace him! The action culminates in a trip into the netherworlditself, where the Ghost Wardens must face their most terrifying foes yet to save the Empire!

Throughout the adventure, the Ghost Wardens must face breath-sucking ghosts, hungry corpses, and deadly denizens of Hell. And that’s just the restless dead. There are plenty of the living who want nothing more than the destruction of Ghost Mountain and its guardians as well!

The emotions which inspire the martial arts styles of the Ghost Wardens power a bevy of new Edges to unlock these powers. The Martial Weapon Edge grants the benefits from Martial Artist to a specific weapon. Fighters can learn how to become almost weightless, strike with unorthodox hidden weapons, and deploy the raw power of spiritual energy. With all the forces arrayed against the heroes they’ll need every advantage they can get!

When Shane approached me with the basic ideas for the Legend of Ghost Mountain, I was incredibly excited. I love wuxia in all its forms, but this was something a little different and very distinct, with the white-haired Ghost Wardens, rebellious armies of the dead, and the twist of basing the combat styles on emotions rather than animal movements for better roleplaying opportunities.

It felt like I was invited into the establishing moments of something as grand as 50 Fathoms. When we started, the original idea was for a 32-page booklet setting down the basics and getting the players started on a path to a greater adventure. After we played that first part, we all wanted more, and so it grew to 128 pages. Based on the feedback from our initial campaign, we decided we wanted even more: more character options, more adventures, and more about the locations that aren’t crucial to the Plot Point Campaign. Now it’s a full setting book along the same lines as Deadlands: Lost Colony and Holler. It’s been a curious path, but I’m extremely proud of the results, and I hope your game group has as much fun with it as ours!

Print Rewards

Once we feel the books are in the right place, we’ll pass it off to our printing partners for review to make sure no changes are required for printing. Once we greenlight our production proofs, they’ll start printing the book (and other rewards), package them, and ship them to our distribution partner, Studio 2 Publishing. Then they’ll ship your items to your door! We expect this process to take approximately eight months, but we’ll update everyone when we have more tangible estimates for printing and shipping!
