Maw of Oblivion is the first of three Plot Point™ campaigns continuing the Reckoner plot arc which began in the Deadlands: Lost Colony core book.
This 96-page hardback supplement moves the story of the Lost Colony forward and explores in more detail the settlements scattered across the Belt. It encompasses a six-part Plot Point™ campaign that covers Famine’s insidious machinations, the hunt for her, plus complications from the aggressive United Nations forces in the Belt, the Reaper’s schemes, and new horrors lurking in the Dark. A series of Savage Tales and a passel of new enemies add depth to the proceedings and opportunities for more adventure. There’s also a primer to bring new Game Masters up to speed on important events that happened in Deadlands: Lost Colony and beyond.
In addition to all that, Maw of Oblivion has new options for heroes:
- New Edges and Hindrances for spacers and heroes who haven’t had a planet under their feet for a while.
- New Gear and weapons to help the crew survive their travels through the Dark.
- New spaceship hulls and Mods. Upgrade the ship the posse gained in The Demon You Know (Deadlands: Lost Colony), or find a new ride and equip it with new tech.
- A new Arcane Background and Powers: the Razorjack. An experimental cybernetic implant created by Hellstromme Industries’ cursed technology allows the user to control a captured manitou’s magic—if he doesn’t succumb to the creature’s evil first.
- A customized dive into spaceship Chases and Duels, along with a streamlined option for Quick Chases and Quick Duels for crews that prefer to settle their problems face-to-face.
Maw of Oblivion requires Savage Worlds Adventure Edition and Deadlands: Lost Colony to play.
Black City Map Pack
The Maw of Oblivion itself is inside a Black City floating in the Belt–the same kind of structure that appears on Banshee. This double-sided, wet-/dry-erasable. 30″x24″ battle map features claustrophobic tunnels and alien corridors for the heroes to explore on one side, and a larger containment chamber, control room, and trapped passageways on the other. Although designed with the climactic battle from the Plot Point™ campaign in mind, these same halls can be reused for locations within the Black Cities on Banshee, or other ancient architecture from Craghan tumbling through the Belt.
Lost Colony Pawns
Pawns come to Lost Colony for the first time! Four sheets of sturdy punch-out figures bring the action to your tabletop. Convenient to store and carry, the figures included cover the archetypes common to the heroes of Lost Colony, the villains of Maw of Oblivion, and additional forces from around Banshee and the Belt to keep the adventures going.
Collectible Bounty Cards
As a special treat for our GameChanger backers, all pledges include a copy of the War and Famine bounty cards (as seen above)! These oversized cards feature the Reckoners on one side, with the trophy a character earns for defeating the Reckoner on the reverse. The only way* to get these collectible bounty cards is by backing the Lost Colony GameChangers featuring the adventures to take out the Reckoners. To catch us up, we’re also including War (who you hopefully slew after grabbing the Lost Colony Boxed Set from the first Kickstarter) alongside our new target: Famine. Keep an eye out for future Lost Colony campaigns to complete your collection!
* Okay, we’ll probably make a few extra to give away at cons and such. But can you blame us? They’re really cool! And we want to share these awesome cards with our Savage Retailers (see below)!
Don’t just take our word for it; Carl over at Tabletop Tango recorded a preview of Maw of Oblivion you can watch below!
The Four Horsemen had their way, and Earth is now an irradiated wasteland. Before the end, spaceships brought prospectors, homesteaders, and intrepid Rangers to the Faraway system. They found ghost rock, new lifeforms, and Banshee—a living world with a spirit of her own. Unfortunately, the Reckoners found their way to Banshee too. Now the last of the human race and the denizens of Banshee must work together or see another world become a Deadland at the hands of the Reckoners.
Back on Earth, the Reckoners were in charge, but things are different in the Faraway system. The journey across weakened them, and the posse has new tools to use against them. Banshee herself is a weapon: a mineral she produces called tannis can harm the ancient evils. The treacherous Hellstromme Industries has produced technology that can trap and dissolve the horsemen. While the Reckoners hide and rejuvenate their powers the posse are on the attack.
War has already fallen. Now the hunt for Famine is on!
Traverse Dark Spaces
While most of the action in Deadlands: Lost Colony centered on Banshee, humanity has outposts throughout the Faraway system, especially among the thick asteroid field called The Belt. Famine fled out into the Belt, where deprivation is a constant concern. The posse must venture out into the ramshackle stations and lonely asteroid settlements of Faraway to track down Famine and the artifact she discovered: The Maw of Oblivion—a raw black hole phased into the fabric of the Hunting Grounds by the ancient powers who once opposed Banshee.

Maw of Oblivion is written and in layout. Your support allows us to create the extras and get the word out to other fans (by far the hardest challenge for a small company like ours).
We plan to deliver the PDF of the book a few days after the project closes. We’ll gather feedback for a few weeks to help us catch any last-minute issues, then send it all off to the printer. Physical products arrive about 7 months later depending on shipping and any international issues.
Digital Rewards
We deliver PDF materials through the Pinnacle website and DriveThruRPG.com.
Physical Rewards
You can add ANYTHING from our PEGinc.com store to your pledge! Please read this section completely before pledging so you choose the best way to order for your lifestyle.
Email [email protected] for an estimate to ship to your location if you don’t see it at checkout.
Option One: Ship ALL Items When Maw of Oblivion Arrives (ETA May 2023)
To add items that will ship when your Maw of Oblivion book, Black City Map Pack, Pawns, and Bounty Cards arrive in print at our fulfillment center:
- Choose a PRINT reward level to the right and click “Pledge Now” and then “Add to Cart.”
- You’ll notice you’ve navigated off the main campaign page. Use the headers at the top of the website page to navigate to other sections to add to your order. Rifts® for Savage Worlds, or Pathfinder® for Savage Worlds? Deadlands: the Weird West? Flash Gordon? Or fan-favorite East Texas University? Your downloads will be immediately available. It’s only the physical products that will wait to ship.
- When you’ve added everything to your order, proceed to checkout. Remember, none of these items will ship until later next year when the rewards from this campaign arrive.
We’re using a special bulk rate for the reward level items which should automatically apply to any other items added to your purchase so you pay less for shipping overall.
Option Two: Ship Some Products NOW + Maw of Oblivion Rewards Later (ETA May 2023)
Your Maw of Oblivion book, Black City Map Pack, Pwans, and Bounty Cards cannot ship until May, but you don’t need to wait to get started playing! You will effectively place TWO orders at peginc.com.
- Choose a PRINT reward level to the right and click “Pledge Now” and then “Add to Cart.” Go immediately to checkout and complete your purchase. Please verify your shipping address now, just in case you forget to circle back. After the campaign ends your order will ship. You will have time to add to this order later.
- For your SECOND order, use the headers at the top of the website page to navigate to our many popular settings. What do you want to play right now? Rifts® for Savage Worlds, or Pathfinder® for Savage Worlds? Deadlands: the Weird West? Flash Gordon? Or fan-favorite East Texas University? Please note some items are arriving between this campaign period and November 2022. Your downloads are immediately available after checkout and your product ships in a few days. You will receive a tracking number emailed to you.
Option Three: I Prefer PDF!
No worries, friend. Please choose a DIGITAL reward option and then proceed to checkout. There are no benefits to adding other PDF Only products to your purchase—you can do that anytime you want! Your order will convert with download links after the campaign ends. Please DO NOT add VTT items to this order. Your license key will not be generated unless it’s placed separately.

Our Boosters are smaller support projects for our existing lines and come with Booster Rewards built-in rather than Stretch Goals. The book is written and in layout, the art is mostly finished, and we’re ready to send basically everything in the campaign to the printers right away! But campaigns are a vital part of our community and our business. By running a campaign for Deadlands Lost Colony: Maw of Oblivion we can:
- Get the Word Out: We’re a small company, and every time we release a product, via a crowdfunding campaign or not, folks are surprised to learn we’ve released another thing for them to play! A campaign helps as many folks as possible find out about our new games and products.
- Reward our Supporters in the Community: We know you folks love the things we do, it’s why we’re able to keep making the games and supplements you enjoy! There are all kinds of things we can do to show our thanks to our fans for supporting us early: better value for pledge levels, campaign exclusives, etc!
- Gauge Interest: As we said, we’re a small company. Knowing how many folks are interested in one of our new products lets us order the right number of units. That’s super important in helping us keep the doors open and making the games you folks love!
- Reduce Shipping Costs: We do everything we can to keep the price of shipping as low as possible; from using the best services available to us, partnering with various fulfillment partners, paying a part of your shipping costs ourselves, and letting you bundle multiple products in a campaign! It’s cheaper to get multiple copies of the products you want in one pledge as add ons for your group of friends, and even more so if you add in other items like Boxed Sets for Pathfinder® for Savage Worlds or Deadlands: the Weird West. Those last two options can only really happen during campaign fulfillment, so we want to give you folks as many opportunities as possible to grab the bundles you want!
Any Questions? Email Pinnacle customer service at [email protected]
After more than 30 successful crowdfunding campaigns, Pinnacle is proud to offer GameChanger as a way to combine crowdfunding with our own website, where familiar faces answer emails and provide support when needed.
Best of all, at checkout, any of the products in our store, from Deadlands to Holler to the most recent Savage Worlds setting, are available to add to your order! This can be a HUGE shipping savings, especially for our international customers. You can add projects you missed to ship at the same time or even buddy up with your friends to make one larger order.
We hope our supporters recognize the value of a platform where 100% of the proceeds benefit the creators, feeding our families and keeping us making the incredible games you’ve supported for years.
Of course, the hardest thing about moving away from the “big guys” like Kickstarter is losing that visibility, so please help us make up the difference by letting others know about the latest GameChanger! We appreciate you, and we put our absolute best effort into every single adventure, setting, pawn set, and accessory we make!

Reach out to [email protected] with any bugs, support items, or questions!
First, you must have placed an order with one of our GameChangers. If you have not, go here to get started: https://peginc.com/gamechangers/
Navigate to your current pledge tier, listed as a “Crowdsource Hold” order on your Order Page (make sure you’re logged in!). As long as the Order Manager is open, you can click “Upgrade Order” to modify your pledge. You’ll see a confirmation box that explains how this works:
Your order is “canceled” and a store credit equal to your last order (or pledge) will wait for you at checkout.
It’s important that you keep the Reward Level title item in your cart while you navigate the site to add to your order. You can add anything from our store and take advantage of reduced shipping!
If you want to upgrade to a higher Reward Level, add the next level to your cart, then remove the first reward level.
You can then add a pledge tier of equivalent or higher value to your cart, plus any other products on the PEG store you’d like included in your order. Once you’ve made all your changes, you’ll confirm the order and pay any outstanding balance if you’ve upgraded/added other products.
WARNING: Your cart only persists for 48 hours. If you do not complete upgrading your order within 48 hours, you will need to contact [email protected] to finish your upgrade.
You can keep doing this until the Order Manager closes and your order is marked as “Processing“.
You’re charged the moment you place your order!
The easiest way for everyone to get their individual shipping rate is to add the pledge tier (and any other items from the PEGinc store you want included in the order) to your cart and hit “Checkout”. Once you fill out the first two tabs with your information, a line will appear on the “Review & Payment” tab with your shipping total.
If you’re new to Savage Worlds and you’re not exactly sure where to begin, we’ve got you covered! Click the link below to learn how to begin:
Update posted on 09-19-2023We have completed shipping for the Maw of Oblivion campaign! This includes GameChanger backers and Preorders.
If you have not received your physical rewards or have a tracking number showing a package is in transit, please reach out to our customer service team at [email protected] and we’ll help get your rewards sorted!
Due to a high volume of orders from both our Fantasy Companion campaign and our warehouse’s other clients they are still in the process of shipping out the FC campaign and preparing to attend Gen Con.
We will begin Maw of Oblivion shipping after the warehouse team returns from Gen Con in August.
Maw of Oblivion has cleared customs and is in our warehouse. It will begin shipping just after the Fantasy Companion completes shipping (which will begin as early as next week, meaning Maw could start shipping before the end of June).
If you have moved at any point in the last year, email [email protected] to update the shipping address for your Maw campaign. EVEN IF you have already updated your stored address on your PEGINC.COM account! The logistics software stores your address and associates it with your order at the time of order and doesn’t update it. So we’re happy to manually do this to ensure your Maw books are headed in the right direction.
Now is also the time to email [email protected] if you have any order upgrades or changes before we lock the orders for shipping prep one week from today on June 22nd. We’ve turned off the self-upgrade feature for maintenance.
Per request, we’ve uploaded a new version of Map Pack 1: Black City with a higher resolution. You will now find that in your downloads.
We have also implemented a new versioning system for all your Maw of Oblivion files. Your existing files have been renumbered (in the sticky note located on the first page) to v1.0 meaning that these files match the “First Printing” of their physical equivalents.
Any versions released above 1.0 will indicate an update to the PDF files versus your print versions and any releases below 1.0 mean either draft or alpha versions of files that will eventually be released physically or digital files that don’t have a physical release and will remain a version less than 1.0.
There are no other significant changes to the Maw campaign files other than the upgraded Map Pack 1.
We have the Lost Colony Figure Flats and Archetype Cards ready for you to download. If you owned the original SWADE Lost Colony products, those files have been updated to include the Lost Colony content. New backers can also find the Figure Flats as the digital version of your Lost Colony Pawns purchase and Digital and Print Prospector backers will find the Archetype Cards file added to your Downloads.
- Log in to your account at PEGINC.COM and the PDF will be waiting in your downloads.
The files will be listed as:
Deadlands: Lost Colony – Pawns (Preorder) or
Deadlands Lost Colony Figure Flats PDF
and
Deadlands: Lost Colony – Archetype Cards
If you have any questions, email [email protected].
Our printing partners have sent final proofs for review, including of the gold Bounty Cards and they are gorgeous!
We are still on track for JUNE SHIPPING and we will update if anything changes on this front.

Long ago, Banshee wasn’t the only inhabited world in the Faraway system. Craghan, whose people embraced the Hunting Grounds and built strange monuments to corruption across their world: the Black Cities. When the despicable denizens of Craghan turned their eyes towards Banshee she acted and obliterated the planet, but the Black Cities survived. Some still drift in the Belt (the shattered remains of Craghan itself), while others plunged through space to land on Banshee and take root there.
Black Cities are Deadlands. The twisted architecture reflects the nightmarish “terrorforming” that happens to a landscape when the Hunting Grounds take hold. The shadows move. Every dark crevice could hide an attacking monster. The Black Cities are the domain of the Skinnies, the vengeful remnant of Craghan. They is where evil hides from the light to scheme and gather power. Posses beware.
The Black City Map Pack gives players twisting corridors to explore, strange rooms to plumb for clues or artifacts, and key locations for difficult battles against the forces of evil. Although designed for Maw of Oblivion, the same halls can be repurposed and remixed for locations all across Banshee.
Features:
–Small rooms and claustrophobic corridors for close encounters with monstrous inhabitants.
-Doorways could be deadly traps, sorcerous tests, scientific puzzles, or all three.
–Multiple paths between key locations: does the posse need to wriggle through an access tube, or take a longer path through a winding stairwell?
-Spikes, strange electricity, and hazards everywhere. This is a dangerous place.
-The Maw Chamber can double as a reactor, ritual chamber, or another devious device.
–Mysterious rooms work well with the random Black City Encounters from the Deadlands: Lost Colony core book.
–The sturdy fold out map Savage Worlds players are accustomed to. Wet and Dry Erase capable, so you can add pits, walls, and other features for more variety.

Thank you Space Cowpokes! Spacers? Wild Cards in SPAAAAAAAACE!
With your enthusiastic support of our launch we’re more than twice-funded and blasting off to more action-and-horror-fueled adventures in a far off corner of the universe.
Believe it or not, it’s been 22 years since Lost Colony was first published, and we’re thrilled that you’re still along for the ride. Lost Colony has always been special to us because it’s the big finale of the Reckoners story arc that began in Deadlands. The lore has been built by some of your favorite designers including John Hopler, John Goff, and Cheyenne Wright. Now we’re thrilled to have Darrell Hayhurst steer the Reckoners’ arc to its epic conclusion–this time you’re taking on Famine–while also laying the foundation for the next great adventures in and around Banshee in the “Way Out West.”

Has version 1.1 been released yet?
It’s released!
I ordered the print prosecutor, can I get the lost colony box set now and what for the other items in May. I understand I will need to pay more in shipping.
If so how do I do this?
Hey Jason, we’ve got explanations for various ways to back and get certain items shipped out at different times at the bottom of the campaign page under the “Shipping” header.
In your case, due to logistical constraints, we cannot ship portions of a pledge tier out even if parts of the pledge tier are existing products. You could have backed at Print Ranger and done a second order with just the other Lost Colony products, but you wouldn’t have received the special pledge tier rate or the campaign-exclusive shipping on that second order.
There’s a chance our customer service team may be able to figure out a way to help you since we haven’t delivered any PDFs yet. Send an email to [email protected] outlining what you’re trying to and they might have a solution!
Ok thanks
I put in an order for the Print Ranger and now I would like to add another product (or two) to ship with my stuff to reduce shipping a bit. What’s the best way to handle that?
Hey John, you’ll want to upgrade your order (the steps are outlined here: https://peginc.com/faq-items/how-do-i-upgrade-my-pledge/).
After you hit upgrade, you’ll add the other products to your cart and check out again. Make sure to keep your existing pledge tier in your cart in addition to the new products!
Is the main “Deadlands Lost Colony” book required for this campaign, and if so, will there be options to add it later as an add on?
Hey Mike, it’s a sequel to the campaign from the original Lost Colony book. You could certainly modify it to make it stand alone, but we recommend running the first campaign before Maw of Oblivion.
And since this is a GameChanger, you can add anything from PEGinc.com to your order right away, no wait! Just add anything else you want to your cart after you add your pledge tier. We outline the different ways you can do this under the “Shipping” header on the main page.
You need the Deadlands: Lost Colony book to use this supplement, but you don’t have to have played the adventure. (For example, Edges, Gear, Setting Rules, and some stats from the main book get referenced here.)
Is there any plan to update the LC file for errata? I know that there was a post that needs to be updated in the official deadlands forum.
Hey Merz, it’s not something we’ve specifically discussed but Maw of Oblivion coming out might be a good chance to catch those one or two posts that have come up over the years.
What is “A Billion Miles From Home”? The page mentions it several times but doesn’t give any details.
Hey Laurie, A Billion Miles From Home is one of the existing adventures for Deadlands: Lost Colony (https://peginc.com/store/savage-tale-deadlands-lost-colony-a-billion-miles-from-home/). It’s set out in space, so it was a natural fit to bundle with Maw of Oblivion!
Next preview vote for me is [A] Bestiary Entry
I’ll vote for [A] for the next preview!
B!
I bought my Lost Colony boxed set at my FLGS, and it did not include the errata bookmark. Will you offer it as part of this campaign? Maybe as an add-on?
Hey laszlo, we don’t plan on adding print copies of the bookmarks to this campaign, but you can grab the PDF here (https://peginc.com/store/deadlands-lost-colony-bookmark/)!
If I opt-in for the digital pack now, with the intention of upgrading to print later (for budgeting reasons), do I have to upgrade before the Gamechanger campaign ends, or will I have a chance to update later, during the production period, as with the Kickstarter campaigns?
You’ll have the option to upgrade all the way until about a month before we ship. For example, we’re just now (Sept 20th) closing the Order Manager for the Fantasy Companion. Backing at any level during the campaign will designate your order with the special crowdfunding shipping, etc.
If I wanted to drop to a lower tier after already purchased a higher one and I don’t pick out items that are equal to the original higher tier does that money get saved over as credit or do I have to pick everything all at once now?
Hey master.gm8742, you’ll have to reach out to [email protected] as downgrading to a lower tier is not something the system automatically supports. As we deliver files while the Order Manager is open, we cannot allow downgrading. That said, since we’re on day #1 before any files are delivered, the support team should be able to help you out.
Happy to be there, Lost Colony is wonderful :)
Happy to have you!! :)
Hello my favorite TTRPG designers – If I own the Lost Colony box I picked up from a local Tucson FLGS, what upgrades do I need to add-on to have everything I would get in the Print Prospector?
If you already have the first Lost Colony (for SWADE) box, then the Ranger Levels will get you covered for all the NEW stuff!
Hey John, you’ll also want to grab Hellstromme Triumphant, Banshee Screams, and the Power Templates as those files aren’t part of the original box set.
The Campaign page for the Gamechanger does not list the Hellstromme Triumphant novel as part of the Prospector rewards, although the thumbnails and the details page of the packs do. (Also, the Digital Prospector level does not list the power templates as part of it, although it does appear on the thumbnail.)
