Joe: A Real American Hero as well as ’80s action film, Megaforce!

In the year 2053, the United Nations-backed special missions force Freedom Squadron battles VENOM, a criminal and terrorist conspiracy dedicated to the downfall of human civilization. Engaging in military and humanitarian missions worldwide, the air, land, sea, and space forces of Freedom Squadron recruit experts from across the world and all walks of life to thwart VENOM’s tangled schemes.

Creating heroes in Freedom Squadron begins with choosing a Vocation Framework (such as Guerilla Fighter, Ninja, or Soldier) and then rolling for additional bonuses on the Hero’s Journey tables (such as Close Quarters Combat, Intelligence, and Search & Rescue). After that, players can choose from dozens of new Edges, new equipment, and high-tech vehicles as they arm their heroes to take on VENOM!

Originally released in 2018, Freedom Squadron now returns in a fully SWADE-compatible edition from Sean Tait Bircher and Robin English-Bircher (Dawn of the Daikaiju, Rippers Resurrected: Expedition Amazon, Savage Rifts®: Arcana & Mysticism, and Rifts® North America: Blood & Banes).

Central to the current crowdfunding campaign is the all-new Friends/Foes Manual, a guide to the villains and heroes of the VENOM Assault world! The Friends/Foes Manual includes new Frameworks including the Ex-VENOM Agent, Officer, and Soldier of Fortune, and new Edges like Covering Fire, Horseshoes & Hand Grenades, and Kung Fu Grip, making it a must for players and Game Masters alike!

As a special add-on to the Kickstarter campaign, backers may also purchase the revised Freedom Squadron Field Manual. This updated volume combines the previously released Commando’s Manual and Plans & Operations Manual into a single, SWADE-compatible volume. The Field Manual serves as a consolidated core rulebook for Freedom Squadron, incorporating new vehicles and new characters for both Freedom Squadron and VENOM.
