The SWADE Core Rules module version 12.1.0 takes full advantage of the new system update adding a slate of helper macros and usability improvements. Powers got the biggest overhaul with new Active Effects and Macro Actions. Be sure to check out the Status Effect manager, Warrior’s Gift, and Smite macros. They are sure to make things even more fast, furious, and fun on Foundry VTT.

Active Effects

The new active effects allow players and Game Masters to drag and drop effects onto tokens. These effects not only apply benefits or penalties but also have durations to help manage power expiry. GMs can even multi-select tokens to add an effect to multiple actors at once! For example, when the powerful Lich adds protection to all its minions the GM can quickly increase their Toughness. Or conversely if a hero does the same for their allies, each player can drag and drop the effect onto their token (or the GM can do it for everyone effected at once).

Macro Actions

Three new Macro Actions make powers a breeze: Status Effect Manager, Smite, and Warrior’s Gift.

The Status Effect Manager is the most versatile. Many powers apply Statuses such as Bound, Shaken, Distracted, Vulnerable, or Stunned. Where appropriate the power card can trigger the Status Effect Manager. Select any tokens and quickly add or remove a status effect. If your Hexslinger unleashes havoc in a large burst template the GM can select all the foes and make them Distracted. Got a raise on entangle? Select all tokens and make them Bound. The Status Effects Manager is also available for general use, Game Masters may want to drag it from the compendium into their macro hot bar. It’s very handy.

The new Smite macro allows the user to select a single token, choose a weapon from their Gear list, and apply the appropriate bonuses and modifiers for the duration of the power. No multi-select available here as smite applies to unique weapons. We even snuck in the option to increase the smite damage bonus to +6, because Rifts®.

Similarly, the Warrior’s Gift Macro brings up a dialog of all Combat Edges and their source that the target can choose to temporarily add to their actor. Meaning you can grant Edges in the Combat category from any content module. These temporary edges automatically delete whenever the effect is removed.

These new additions go along with the existing Boost/Lower Trait Macro, and several other utilities, that got an overhaul to Foundry VTT application v2. This gives is a cleaner dialog but the same functions.

Go Wild

There’s nothing like a Wild Attack when you really need to hit something. The system has had a Wild Attack status for a while, but it’s been tricky to find. Now, newly created Actors have a built in Wild Attack Action on their Actions tab and we added a little macro to trigger Wild Attacks on the Bestiary actors and Gear. To make a Wild Attack, click the Action, then use a Fighting action. The bonus to hit and damage is automatically applied, and the actor set to Vulnerable at the end of their turn.

Updates Coming Across All Lines

We have already permeated these updates where needed to the Fantasy Companion, Horror Companion, Holler, and Rifts® for Savage Worlds lineup. The rest of our Premium Content modules will get similar treatment in the coming weeks.
