Pinnacle Entertainment Group – 2024 In Review

Published On: December 31, 2024Categories: Events, New Release, News

2024 has come to an end, giving all of us here at Pinnacle time to reflect on everything that happened this year and what we have planned for the next.

Comings and Goings

Brian Reeves completed his work with us this year, ending on a high note with the incredible Deadlands: the Abominable Northwest sourcebook – a massive tome of information about the very neck of the woods he lives in. You’ll continue to see Brian’s contributions here for a while, both as we release projects he already worked on and hopefully are able to work future books into his busy schedule. Fans of Brian’s work can currently find him with Ulisses Spiele, working on Torg Eternity and other lines.

Donald Schepis moved on to greener pastures just this month. We wouldn’t normally say that, as we think our pastures are pretty green, but since he moved to Ireland to work for video game publisher of the year, Larian Studios (Divine Divinity, Baldur’s Gate 3), we think that’s a fair statement! Don did GREAT things for Pinnacle in his several years here and his passion for design, internal organization, and improving our customer experience will be felt for years to come.

What We Shipped

Early in the year we shipped the Legend of Ghost Mountain, Pinebox Middle School (for ETU), and the new Horror Companion. We also shipped the deluxe edition of John Goff’s AMAZING, fan-favorite adventure Deadlands: Night Train, and managed reprints of SWADE, Deadlands, Rifts® for Savage Worlds, and both the Supers and Fantasy Companions.

And finally, we shipped the Savage Worlds 20th Anniversary Edition packages, which was a nightmare for us behind the scenes. We hate making excuses so we never talked about all the production issues that went wrong on this one, so hopefully all you saw was that it was a little bit late. The actual products turned out amazing if we do say so ourselves! It just took nudging a few mountains to bring it all together. Kudos to the entire team for keeping this monster moving forward despite numerous obstacles.

The SWADE Player’s Book is a sleek new gateway to adventure, designed to make joining the Savage Worlds community easier than ever before!

What We Launched

We were super excited to get the long-awaited Science Fiction Companion out this year (shipping in February!), as well as Rifts® for Savage Worlds: Europa, The Advanced Player’s Guide 2 and Bestiary 2 for Pathfinder® for Savage Worlds, Deadlands: the Abominable Northwest and the Deadlands: Carnage in the Cascades campaign set.

Whew! That’s a lot for a full-time team of only five people!

What We’re Working On

Next up for Deadlands is the Great Maze sourcebook – an updated guide to the most fantastic place in the Weird West, and after that the Infernal Southwest sourcebook.

Perhaps our most anticipated new project is Deadlands: Dark Ages, coming early in 2025. This is another work by John Goff, and I think it’s going to blow fans of the entire Deadlands universe away! It manages to merge a dark and gritty feel with high fantasy in a way that makes something unique, innovative, and exciting. The Plot Point Campaign also shows you exactly what’s going on with a certain Dark Ages sorceress brought back to life in the Cackler graphic novel, and hints at what she’s up to next in the Weird West!

2025 should also see the debut of the Carrion Crown Adventure Path for Pathfinder® for Savage Worlds! Line editor Michael Barbeau is just about finished with it, and we think it’s a perfect blend of horror and fantasy that fits well with the Savage Worlds crowd!

Get ready to explore even more realms across the war-torn Megaverse®! Our next Rifts® for Savage Worlds sourcebook will continue to explore the globe, reveal secrets, and stir up adventure.

We’ve got a few other surprises in store too… things we’re working on and can’t talk about just yet, but you’ll definitely see a return of the Doom Guard board game and some other surprises in that particular category.

Things That Make Us Happy

Our COO, Jodi Black, also wants everyone to know how happy she was with our Gen Con games and panel and Gamehole Con games and booth. It’s always fun to play with our friends, hear their stories, see our game in action, and leave with thoughts about the future of Savage Worlds

Chris and Jodi are also particularly proud of the Savage Universe and the way it sheds light on the ever growing community of SWAG and ACE publishers, streamers, our translator partners, and others sharing Savage Worlds, well, all around the world.

We’re incredibly lucky here at Pinnacle to have a game system we’re constantly excited about, fans we think of as friends and love to game with, and have survived for 30 years since Shane first founded Pinnacle back in 1994. It’s been an amazing ride, fraught with peril, obstacles overcome, and a long, long trail of Bennies, but we wouldn’t have it any other way.

Happy New Year to all! We hope 2025 brings you health, happiness, and phenomenal games with your friends and family.
