Savage Worlds Media Network News: Hellbent from Saving Throw Show

Industry vet Saving Throw Show is in the early stages of creating an all-new Savage Worlds show entitled Hellbent – and they need YOUR help!

Hellbent is a gritty Western tale set in the year 1879 in a world not unlike our own. New magic has spread through humanity like a cancer, spawning fantastic new technologies, powers and political factions while slowly corrupting even the most stalwart of heroes. Our posse is pitted against a doomsday cult and other nasties as they try to destroy the one being behind it all – a cosmic entity named “Yhargoth.”

Actual play shows have traditionally played to audiences who already understand the genre and terminology of RPGs. These elements can be roadblocks to anyone unfamiliar with those systems and style of gameplay. Hellbent intends to welcome RPG newbies by producing accessible and entertaining roleplaying content for anyone who enjoys exciting adventure stories with an added element of chance.

Edited episodes will be broadcast on YouTube and Twitch as well as made available via podcast. Aiming for a late Fall 2025 release, Hellbent is currently fundraising for its first season through Fourthwall, a creator-owned alternative to platforms like Kickstarter and Patreon — built for ongoing support rather than one-time campaigns. Along with sustaining memberships, it also allows the producers to accept single donations and sell merch. All proceeds go towards unlocking tiers which not only support the creation of the show but add elements to the overall story being told at the table. The producers are initially seeking $6,500 to film the first season.

“This type of continuing support is key to the show’s immersive nature,” says executive producer Dom Zook, “Hellbent’s membership structure allows backers to add elements that have in-world consequences that enhance the setting but will not interrupt how the game is enjoyed.” Zook stressed that viewers don’t have to participate to enjoy the show. In fact they may not even realize some story components are from other viewers. The plan is to seamlessly integrate this content into the overall story. In this way backers will have a unique opportunity to grow with the show.

The producers hope Hellbent, with its alt-history storyline, use of Savage Worlds, helpful graphics, diverse cast, and immersive world-building will help set it apart as a new media experience to watch. Your backing – whether it’s just a simple donation or a sustaining membership – will help Saving Throw Show build this new show from the ground up!
