This year at Gen Con 51, I* ran two special “VIP” sessions of The Savage World of Flash Gordon™ Roleplaying Game for some of our “Princess/Prince of Mongo” supporters from last year’s successful Kickstarter campaign. Along with those generous folks, we were joined by Jodi Black (Chief Operations Officer and Managing Editor for Pinnacle Entertainment Group), Clint Black (Savage Worlds Core Rules Brand Manager), Christine Lapp (Customer Service Rep for Pinnacle Entertainment Group), and a few celebrity guests including members of the cast of Saving Throw’s amazing weekly WildCards show, plus our friend Christian Doyle of Zombie Orpheus Entertainment.

For both sessions, I ran the We Who Are About to Die Savage Tale from our new Flash Gordon™ Cliffhanger Supplement offering players the chance to try out a number of unique races, new setting rules, and new core mechanics in a grand battle royal all under the watchful eyes of Ming the Merciless himself. This particular Savage Tale is drawn straight from the pages of the original Flash Gordon™ comic strips (12/2/34 – 2/24/35) and it had the heroes squaring off against the mightiest warriors of Mongo and some of the planet’s most terrifying and bloodthirsty beasties!

We all had a blast, and I’m told our laughter and cheers (and the occasional outburst of Queen’s Flash Gordon™ soundtrack) were heard echoing around the halls of the Hilton Indianapolis Hotel.
